Adopt A Highway Cleanup & Ride -- CANCELLED

When:
Saturday, December 9, 2017, 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM
Where:
River Road Park
6500 River Rd
Wilmington, NC  28412
Additional Info:
Category:
Club Ride - All Speeds
Registration is not Required
Payment In Full In Advance Only

Note that when driving to River Road Park, there will be signage at Sanders Road stating that the road is closed but DOT said we will be able to get to the park because the construction is well south of there.

We will meet at River Road Park (about 1/2 mile south of the intersection of River Road and Sanders Road) and pick-up for about one hour. All materials (collection bags, gloves, safety jackets, etc) will be supplied. (If you have a pair of from a past pick-up, please bring them as DOT was out of gloves when Al went there to replenish his supplies).

Following the cleanup there will be refreshments and award of prizes for the two participants that find the (now) famed “Yellow Coke Bottles”.

After the refreshments there will be a bicycle ride and although it is December, we will be using the summer route (map below). The mileage will be slightly shorter than indicated on the map in that we will not be able to go all the way to Snow's Cut Park because of bridge work being down on the southern part of River Road.

There will be at least three pace groups. The “Need for speed” group riding at a pace above 20 mph, the “Middle of the road” group riding at a pace of 17-20 mph, and the “Fun in the sun” group riding at a pace of 14-17 mph. We regroup at convenient points on the route……no one left behind.
