Since its formation in 1972 Cape Fear Cyclists has contributed to the Cape Fear region. Initially and currently, it has been a strong advocate for more bicycling facilities (bike trails, multiple use paths, bike lane and bike sharing markings and signs) on the roads and streets in the Cape Fear Region. The Club’s maintenance of a two-mile section of River Road through Adopt-a-Highway cleanups has made that popular bikeway a more pleasant and safer place to ride.
In addition, the success of the Tour de Blueberry has made it possible to provide financial aid and grants to organizations that support and enhance bicycling in our region. During the past ten years the Club has donated a total of $70,455. Below is listed several of the organizations Cape Fear Cyclists has contributed.
