About this event

Adopt-A-Highway

Ride Description:

Join us at River Road Park (located about ½ mile south of the intersection of River Road and Sanders Road) for a quick club effort to keep our roads beautiful! We'll spend less than an hour picking up litter, with all materials provided, including collection bags, gloves, and safety vests.

After the cleanup, choose between two great cycling options:

  1. A scenic ride to Carolina Beach, with the option to continue to the Fort Fisher Ferry for those looking for a longer journey.
  2. A ride through the neighborhoods to the north and east of the park.

Both rides start and end at River Road Park, with flexible distances ranging from 25 to 30 miles depending on rider preferences.

To keep your energy up, trail bars will be provided to enjoy before and during the ride.

Cape Fear Cyclists has proudly cared for this section of River Road as part of NCDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program since 1988, making it one of the longest-serving organizations in the program. Given the route’s popularity among cyclists in Southeastern North Carolina, it’s only fitting that we play a role in maintaining its beauty.

We hope to see you there for a day of giving back and enjoying the ride!
